It’s only March 6th…

…and I already feel like I’m 400 miles behind.

Last year I think I was riding outside already, but a foot of fresh snow yesterday might set that back a bit. I’ll be churning out the miles on my stationary trainer for a few weeks, listening to books on my Kindle, while my homies are riding fat bikes in the snow or at training camp in Arizona.

I still have some time to assemble my plastic 29er fad bike that sits in bubble wrap on my workbench. I’m not sure if I’m going to do anything special in the process or not, but I’d like to rebuild the wheels with new rims and swap out the fork uppers for a different offset.

Just for fun, I think I’m going to race less and explore more this year. A long-overdue trip to La Crosse for their Friday night mountain bike ride is in order, if for no other reason than to humiliate myself. I also feel the effectual call from Levis Mound, Cuyuna, the new trails in Duluth, and the Wolverine system up in Wakefield. But primarily, I will ride local, with friends.

It’s already March 6th. April is going to hurt.
