I recently wrote a post over at Religious Affections that talks about why “we” talk past each other. It’s incomplete, but I think it will at least help you to spot some of the real howlers of impassioned illogic that pollute comment sections of blogs. If you’d like some further reading and illustrations of the phenomenon in question, I refer you to the comments below these articles. Just for clarification, I cite these articles not because I agree with them completely (the range is about 50% to 90% in no particular order), but because they are thoughtfully written.
